Bhopal marked International Women’s Day on Saturday with enthusiasm, as government and social organisations hosted diverse events to celebrate women’s empowerment. From official honours to symbolic initiatives and cultural performances, the city resonated with the spirit of progress and recognition.

Schools and institutions across Bhopal added a creative dimension to the celebrations. Holy Cross Senior Secondary School, Carmel Convent Senior Secondary School, and NRI Group of Institutions hosted plays and presentations challenging gender stereotypes. The assembly at one school echoed the theme ‘Not All Princesses Wear Pink’, promoting the idea of equal opportunities for all.

At NIIST’s Management Department, Megha Parmar, Madhya Pradesh’s first female mountaineer, inspired students with her journey of resilience and determination. Meanwhile, a legal awareness camp in Paras Nagar, Berasia Road, highlighted women’s rights and helpline services, with social worker Neetu Jaiswal honouring exceptional contributions by local women.

In Berkhedi Bazyaft Gram Panchayat, a special Gram Sabha drew a large gathering of women. Sarpanch Kamla Yogesh Kushwaha felicitated attendees and informed them about government schemes aimed at enhancing women’s welfare.

The women of the Niharika Group embraced the day with a pink-themed celebration, featuring dance performances, Tambola games, and a heartwarming activity where participants wrote about the inspiring qualities of another woman. The event fostered an atmosphere of appreciation and emotional bonding.
