Bhil Painting Workshop under the Do and Learn Museum education program Inaugurated on Wednesday. The workshop is being organized from May 9 to 16, 2022 in IGRMS premises.
On this occasion traditional Bhil Artist Gangu Bai said that members of the Bhil community on auspicious occasions decorate their house with Pithora painted on the inner wall of the house.
A Pithora -maker is known as Lakhindra. Even today, on auspicious occasions like marriage in this tribe, the deity is established in the inner room of the house and the pictures of Pithoro Dev are inscribed on the walls according to the traditional rules. All these pictures which are inscribed in the honor of Pithoro are called Pithora.
The center part of the picture is of special importance where Pithoro's horse is shown by separating it specially by small dots or lines. Other characters in the second line such as Citurano, Queen Kajal, Pithoro, Valan or Indiraja can be distinguished by their characteristic appearance or gestures such as smoking a hookah or holding a bird.
In its outer and third parts, Ravana, Dholchi, bullock carts and elephants etc. give completeness to the painting.
