The play was staged to mark the concluding day of a three-day theatre festival ‘Jan-Kranti’. Written and Directed by Arpit Sharma, the play was staged by Rann Theatre Group.

While talking to The Pioneer, director of the play Arpit Sharma said, “I have been into theatres when I was seven years old. During my work into theatres I decided to step into direction and then I created my theatre own group in year 2010.” After directing play Arpit began to write the plays as well.

‘Bharat Azaad HaiIJ’ is a Hindi play that revolves around a common man named ‘Bharat’. The story of the play follows a tragedy where Bharat’s wife meets an accident and gets seriously injured. Bharat immediately admits her into a government hospital, but the doctor denies treating his wife.

Bharat gets really upset and go to minister’s house asking for help. As he meet the minister, Bharat is assured of monetary help soon, but as a result returned empty handed. After going through all the crucial steps Bharat thought to himself that he should rob money from somewhere.

As the bad luck was after Bharat, he is caught red handedly. The crowd beat Bharat to death and finally Bharat dies on the spot. “We have not criticised any governmental organisation or administration, but we have only tried to showcase the pain of a common man. Through this play we have tried to portray that whatever may happen it is the only common man who suffers,” says Arpit.
