Even after four days, the fire is not completely doused as smoke clouds could be witnessed at the Bhanpur landfill site. Mayor Alok Sharma and BMC Commissioner Priyanka Das handed over a complaint against those responsible in setting fire to DIG Bhopal Dharmendra Chouhan on Thursday.
The fire was set intentionally by those who want Bhopal to lag in the cleanliness survey in the year 2018.
Demanding a police enquiry, Mayor Alok Sharma claimed that more than two dozen places were set on fire of the site on January 29, which suggests that the fire was a part of conspiracy which should be revealed.
Apart from the complaint to the DIG a complaint was made with the Chhola Mandir police and based on the complaint after preliminary investigation FIR would be registered said police.
Meanwhile, BMC Commissioner Priyanka Das visited the landfill site and inspected the fire and smoke in the heap of garbage.
She clarified regarding notice issued to BMC by Pollution Control Board (PCB) after dense smoke emitted and spread across several miles due to fire at Bhanpur landfill site raising the level of pollution above permissible limits. She said that closure work of Bhanpur garbage dumping ground was been provided to Saurashtra Enviro Projects Private limites (SEPPl) and which makes the company responsible.
