Alleging that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is doing politics over the suicides of farmers in the State, Bhopal District Congress Committee (BDCC) has demanded immediate distribution of compensation to the farmers affected with unseasoned rains and hailstorms.
BDCC district president and Congress candidate from Bhopal PC Sharma said, “Shivraj Singh Chouhan led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government of the State is doing politics on the dead bodies of farmers. Instead of shouting in media, claiming sympathy with the farmers and shedding tears before the cameras, Chouhan should do some good in real for the farmers.”
Sharma further said that the State Government should waive off farmers bank loans, electricity bills and revenue recovery in this hour of crisis. He said that the Chief Minister has become expert in shedding crocodile tears for getting votes and deceiving the people of the State after getting the votes. last year, the soyabean crops were destroyed due to excessive rains, the Chief Minister made tall promises of giving compensation to the farmers but after getting the votes in assembly elections the compensation process was stalled and his Government went into hibernation, he added.
He said that the crops in the State were damaged due to untimely excessive rains and hailstorm, the Chief Minister made lot of hue and cry for Central Government’s help but did nothing on State Governments’ part. The Central Government provided interim help of Rs 680 crore rupees to the State Government but the BJP Government is neither distributing that amount to the affected farmers nor is it sending the requisite information to the Centre for getting full central aid, he added.
The Congress candidate said that factually, the BJP Government has no sympathy with the farmers, it just wanted to do politics over the issues to get votes.
