Baseless, misleading allegation: Govt

Madhya Pradesh Government's spokesman Narottam Mishra has termed as baseless and misleading the allegation of Aam Admi Party's chief spokesperson Akshay Hunka against Madhya Pradesh Government to give benefit of Rs 29,000 crore to a company.

Describing the allegation as a figment of imagination and aimed at creating sensation, he said that foundation of the AAP is laid on spreading rumours, criticising others and creating sensation. All allegations are baseless. The matter will be legally dealt with.

Mishra said that in a letter to the Prime Minister in year 2007, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had only said in the interest of Madhya Pradesh that Chitrangi thermal power plant is near Mohar, Mohar Amroli and Chhatrasal captive coalmines.

Therefore, he had urged the Prime Minister that if any quantity of coal remains surplus in the captive coal bocks after supply to Sasan ultra mega power project as per approved mining plan then it should be considered to grant approval for use of the surplus coal for 4000 MW thermal power plant being established under an MoU with the state government in Chitrangi tehsil.

The Chief Minister had made no recommendation regarding applicable rates.Final decision regarding quantity of coal and conditions were left at the disposal of the Central Government. Its only objective was to ensure that surplus coal is not diverted for any other project outside the State.

The Empowered Group of Ministers headed by the then Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had to decide about coal allotment. So far, even one kg coal has not been provided from these coal blocks and the case is pending in the Supreme Court.
