Banks should ensure increasing the withdrawal limit of SHGs

There are 4.09 lakh self-help groups in Madhya Pradesh, with which about 45 lakh 90 thousand poor rural families are related. Continuous work is being done for their social and economic upliftment by providing regular training to these groups, providing loans from banks and connecting them with livelihood activities. Banks should ensure compliance of RBI norms for increasing the withdrawal limit of these groups.

Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Malay Srivastava gave these instructions at the review meeting of bank credit linkage progress of self-help groups organized by Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission and NABARD at Kushabhau Thakre Convention Center.

Additional Chief Secretary Srivastava instructed bankers to set up posts on priority basis for trained women of self-help groups to work as BCs. Banks should make loans available on time in the self-help schemes run by the state government. Regular review of this work should be done.

Srivastava said that self-help groups should be able to get maximum loans from banks for various economic activities, for this it is necessary that they have financial literacy. For this, training programs should be organized by RSETI centers in coordination with the Livelihood Mission.
