The Special Police Establishment (SPE) of the Lokayukta nabbed Assistant Director Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Satpura Bhawan Bhopal accepting `25,000 cash for payment of overseas scholarship for Arizona University Phoenix City USA and raising scholarship to 5000 dollars of a Mehgoan based student.
According to the Lokayukta officials, the accused, Assistant Director Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Satpura Bhawan Bhopal H B Singh, was caught accepting bribe of `25,000 from victim Vallabh Patidar whose son was sanctioned overseas scholarship.
The victim was forced and threatened to provide `2 lakh for clearing the payment and approvals after which victim decided to lodge complaint with the Special Police Establishment (SPE) of the Lokayukta and lodged complaint. In his complaint victim stated that his son Hemant got overseas scholarship for Arizona University Phoenix City USA and when he contacted for the same with the Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Department the accused demanded `2 lakh for the same.
On Wednesday it was decided to pay part payment and `25,000 was provided at the gate of Satpura Bhawan and at the time of accepting the bribe accused told the victim that he would approve 5000 dollar but 4000 dollars have to be returned to him while victim’s son have to collect only 1000 dollars.
