Government of India’s AYUSH Mantralaya has given a Public Health Initiative Project to the college. Under the project, all senior citizens residing in Tehsil Huzur (Bhopal) will be provided facilities of health screening besides treatment of all diseases through homoeopathic system of medicine.
Taking into account the works of the geriatric disease unit situated in the college in which a geriatric disease unit is being operated for last two years in the Government Homoeopathic Medical College AYUSH premises.
The geriatric disease unit has 3 OPDs in the hospital. Two other OPDs under the hospital jurisdiction are being operated in Ambedkar Nagar and Gautam Nagar.
The objective of the geriatric disease unit is to provide medical consultation of men and women above 55. Besides, the unit serves to diagnose and treat the physical and mental imbalance of senior citizens and help them live in the best lifestyle.
Availability of qualified doctors for consultation has been ensured in each OPD of geriatric diseases. There is the best pathology lab for complete health examination in the hospital premises. A physiotherapy unit is being run in the hospital since the last 5 years.
Camps are held in the hospital every week for diabetes every Monday, blood pressure every Wednesday, mental diseases, insomnia, depression and dementia on Fridays and joints-related diseases on Saturday. Patients of fixed age groups are being examined; free medicines and food related consultation is being provided by experts.
It is considered to be a major initiative from the side of the Government and this run must continue with any cost in the larger interest of the senior citizens.
Free hospitalisation and testing facility is available every Monday from 9 am to 2 p.m. all old and complicated diseases including mental illness, insomnia, confusion, anxiety, low concentration in studies, kidney disease, thyroid, sugar, stones, stomach diseases, female and male diseases, skin diseases, sinus, piles and prostate are treated. Test facility for blood, sugar and blood pressure is also available in the hospital.
