The Madhya Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) claimed to have got a major lead about three suspects who allegedly kept a explosive-laden bag at a hotel room in the ancient temple town of Ujjain where the Simhastha Mahakumbh Mela would be held from next month.
Inspector-General of Police (ATS) Sanjeev Shami told media at the police headquarters here on Monday, "Concrete information about involvement of three suspects is received. The age of the suspects is between 30 to 40 years. Operation is going on to arrest the trio and the ATS will manage to unravel the mystery soon." He said 2.77 kg explosives, 25 detonators and a 60-metre-long wire were also seized. When asked whether the suspects were involved with any terrorist group or what their names were, Shami said it was too early to say anything.
On March 18 night, the suspects booked the room of a hotel in Nana Kheda area in Ujjain by using fake IDs and fled after keeping the explosive-laden bag in the room. The hotel authorities informed the police, who broke the door the next day and seized the explosives. Mobile phones and electric batteries were also seized from the bag.
