Creative creations are never anti-human”, said author Vibhuti Narayana Rai. She was addressing the Master Class at Bharat Bhavan, marking the third day of Theatre Olympics on Friday. She talked on the topic ‘Interrelationship of Art’.
Vibhuti Narayana Rai, born in Azamgarh (Uttar Pradesh) was IPS of UP Cadre of 1975 batch. Awarded with Presidential Award and a Police Medal for the Special Service, Rai has been known as a high profile fiction writer along with a police officer. On Friday, Rai shared her thoughts with the audience on the understanding and relation between writing and direction of art.
He said that writing and direction are both separate forms but it is very important to have mutual harmony between them. Every word of the book is written by the author, but the story's dramatic conversion happens according to the director. The director is free to offer the story in the form of the stage, but the original soul of the story should not be hammered.
While sharing the experience of his writing, he told that he used to be in the job of a police, but he also came to live a double life. Throughout the day, he used to face many good people and this became the character of his novels. At the time of his job he used to spend his time with the cast.
In his writings he always used those live things which he saw in reality. Rai said that the story of every era has its own sadness but the end of any story is very important. Finally, that story takes you forward.
On the matter of politics interference in the drama, Rai said that no one can remain free from politics. Talking about the drama ‘Prem Ki Bhoot Katha’, he said that after reading a small story of Ruskin Bond in Mussoorie, he created the novel Prem Ki Bhoot Katha’ that tells the history of the 1990s Mussoorie.
