Portraying the Sanja festival of Malwa region, the artists prepared motif of 'Chaupad' on canvas and recited songs related Sanja in a sixteen day workshop Sanjha Phooli underway at Madhya Pradesh Tribal Museum on September 23, 2013.

Here, the motif of Chaupad symbolizes the image of game and amusement which is crafted on the canvas of cow-dung by unmarried girls during Pitra- Paksha, the fortnight of ancestors. Traditionally the puja is performed of this motif and then songs and hymns recited to Sanja festival on this occasion in Malwa region.

Elucidating this culture, the participating artists in today's cultural concert presented song- 'ya pothi mehyra kunn-kunn biro banche re bhammriya' defined the faith of locals in deity Sanja. The song 'khuud-khuud re mehyra khodya khodhya baman, sanja ke lewa aayo re' underlines- sanja's friends complain to her husband that he forgot to bring all stuffs for sanja use by married woman.

However, Sanja's husband tried to convince her friends that he bought all the stuffs for Sanja but has lost somewhere on his way. The other of the song of this evening 'magre baithi chidkali uddao kyun ni dadaji' referred- why dada ji (elderly person ) is not convincing sanja bai to stay for few more days with them and then go to    in-laws home.

Young artists of Ujjain namely Swati Ukhle, Sohni Panwar, Barkha Malwi, Damini Chauhan and Pooja Mure are participating in the workshop. Visitors will be given free entry during this workshop which is to be continued till October 4.
