Shahjehanabad police on Monday arrested an absconding miscreant, who was involved in illegal arms trading network and also recovered a country made pistol and live cartridges from his possession.

In June this year, Shahjehanabad police arrested six members of a gang involved in illegal weapon trading but Mheru Maharaj alias Ramakant Sharma managed to escape. Police have visited his village, Bareli Raisen, several times but failed to find him. On Monday police got the information regarding Sharma’s visit to his house and nabbed him from his village.

Earlier, main accused Inder Kumar Sharma was nabbed along with his five accomplices and seized around 32 country made pistols from their possession. During the arrest Mheru escaped and went missing. Earlier, Sharma had reportedly confessed to police they used to bring weapons from Bhind and would sell them in different parts of the State.

He made a network for maintaining the supply of the weapons, told the police. Nabbed accused was booked earlier in 16 cases in Bhopal and Raisen district.
