With an aim to simplify arms licensing process without diluting legal requirements, Delhi Police Commissioner, Amulya
Patnaik on Thursday launched “Online E-Arms Licensing System” to ensure “ease of doing business” and “online module for receipt and processing of application.”
The online licensing system is intended to simplify the process of issuing new arms licenses, renewal of existing arms licenses, extension of area validity, registration of arms licenses issued from other states, addition or conversion of weapons and more.
“The system has been designed, developed and implemented after consultations with all stake-holders and IT professionals.
It would enable citizens to apply for license from the comfort of their homes and they would be able to check the status of their applications online,” police said.
The applicants are provided with facilities like uploading required documents, checking the status of application and online payment.
The system links all 15 Districts of Delhi and the Licensing Unit for online processing.
It also minimizes physical interface between the applicants and police and licensing unit before the grant of Arms Licence, & other related services and ensure time-bound service delivery.
