Welcoming the Congress leader, Amjad Anjum, into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fold, the BJP State president, Nandkumar Singh Chouhan, said, “The country’s Ganga-Jamni culture is our strength. We have to strengthen the community and country together; the BJP has always treated all communities equally and have given justice to all, whereas the Congress adopted the colonial conspiracies of the British that created a divide among the communities.”
Bhopal District Congress Committee vice-president Amjad Anjum along with his hundreds of supporters reached the BJP State office here on Tuesday and took the membership of the saffron party. Considered as one of the Muslim faces of Congress, Anjum joining the saffron party is a jolt for the Congress and a loud and clear message among the masses that the BJP no longer remains untouchable among the Muslim community. Amjad has held many important positions in the Congress including Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress vice president besides being the Bhopal District President of the All India Muslim Tehwar Committee.
Chouhan further said Anjum and other Muslims who have joined BJP would work unitedly to strengthen the country. “We would jointly invent way for making the community prosperous and happy and would teach a lesson to Congress for its misbehaviour,” he added. The BJP State leaders ensured the Muslims that they would always be treated equally and justice would be provided to them. “We respect all the communities and expect the same from others,” he added.
Earlier, BJP minority cell state president Hidayatullah Sheikh introduced the Muslim brethren to party state president and Mp Nandkumar Singh Chouhan, minority cell in-charge state vice president Vijendra Singh Sisodiya and Bhopal MP Alok Sanjar. Sanjar, Chouhan and Sisodiya welcomed all the new entrants by presenting them bouquets and called on them to indulge in making BJP’s mayoral candidate Alok Sharma and corporator’s candidates in the wards of their influence.
