Annual inter-school creative writing contest organized

The metonymic adage, ‘The pen is mightier than the sword’ was never more relevant than it is today as battles are increasingly fought and won on the ideological front rather than the battle front. In recognition of this fact, Billabong High International School hosted the Annual Inter-School Creative Writing Competition 2014-15 to inspire and encourage more young warriors to take up the pen and revel in its might.

To be joined by like-minded schools such as Delhi Public School, Mount Carmel School and Navnidh Hassomal lakhani Public School in our endeavour to promote creativity amongst the budding writers was a huge boost to our efforts and confidence.

Students participated in three categories and wrote essays on topics as diverse as ‘If I were invisible for a day…’, ‘The India of my dreams….’ and ‘Examinations are not proper yardsticks to measure one’s knowledge’.

An esteemed   panel of Judges that included Rajni Pandey, retired Professor of English from Satya Sai College; Medhavi Chourey, a reputed freelance English trainer and Mr Mohan Gehani, a Sahitya Academy Award winner for 2011 for his contribution to Sindhi literature, completed the difficult task of adjudicating the best among the best.

Iravati Singh of Grade 12 proved her mettle, being declared the winner in Category I for Grades 11 and 12. Abeer Khan of Grade 9 won the competition in Category II for Grades 9 and 10 while Nikash Walia of Grade 8 was declared Runner-up for Category III for Grades 7 and 8.
