The new Hindi general entertainment channel ‘&TV’, hosted a curtain raiser of their upcoming show ‘Gangaa’ in Bhopal along with a noted television actor Hiten Tejwani.

While talking to the mediapersons on Monday, Hiten Tejwani said, “It is a story of a child widow Gangaa. She is a fiery young girl with an amazing zest for life. The story explores how the world perceives this child widow, who is strong-minded with an undying spirit. She will be seen questioning age-old customs of the society and her struggle for survival makes for an endearing and poignant story.”

Talking about his role, he said, “I play the head of the Chaturvedi family, a Barrister in Benaras sessions court that is known for his fair justice and a balanced view of the world. The role is very interesting. When I read the script I loved the concept and it’s not been showed on television before. I am hoping the audience would also like the show as much as I do,” he added.

Elaborating about his character, he said, “The patriarch of Chaturvedi family, Niranjan or Neeru Babu as he is fondly addressed, is a Barrister in Benaras sessions court. Neeru Babu is known for his sense of justice and a balanced view of the world. He is a staunch believer of empowerment by education and knowledge and hence, a strict disciplinarian towards his sons. It’s his progressive thinking that makes him offer a shelter to Gangaa, the child widow, inspite of strong defiance from his mother.”

Produced by Sphereorigins, Gangaa is an inspiring story of a child widow, who is characterised with an indomitable spirit and will to survive. Determined to live life to its fullest and claiming what she believes is rightfully hers, Gangaa’s character personifies the face of new age India, which is inspirational and resilient.

The show brings together an ensemble cast that also includes Sushmita Mukherjee as Kanta Dadi, Rakhi Vijan as Prabha Mami, Gungun Uprari as Madhavi and Ruhana Khanna as Gangaa. The show is slated to air from March 2, Monday to Friday at 8:30 pm on &TV.
