Yet another movie based on a novel by Chetan Bhagat, 2 States, hit the big screens here on Friday. The movie had a good opening in Bhopal and the film lovers from the city had mixed reactions on the movie.
When it comes to any movie that is made on a novel, say 3 idiots or Parineeta people always compare it to the novel over which the movie is based. Similar is the situation with the 2 States. The Bhopalites had compared the movie with the novel written by Chetan Bhagat and made their view point.
2 States starting two young faces of B’town Aliya Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor and a new love chemistry between the two tuned the youngsters in the city in the cinema hall. Further the catchy and dhinchak track list was another reason for people to rush to the theatres to watch the movie.
The movie is all about an old concept where two people belonging to two different cultural backgrounds, but the story is treated differently. The story has a twist which begins at IIM Ahmedabad. Krish Malhotra (Arjun Kapoor) is a Punjabi guy from Delhi while Ananya Swaminathan (Aliya Bhatt), is a pure Tamilian from Chennai.
From studying together to getting romantically involved, the two finally fall in love. Both are now well-settled in their respective jobs and so it’s time to get married. The two decide to approach each other’s family and convince them. Moreover, they also have to make their family love each other.
Now how the cultural differences, the likings and the state of minds of the two families clash before accepting each other, is the story that director Abhishek Varman efficiently narrates in this Chetan Bhagat’s book’s adaptation. The movie also stars Amrita Singh, Ronit Roy, Revathi and Shivkumar Subramaniyam.
He brings out the varied emotions from his characters, college romance, the flick initially peeks into the colourful campus, libraries and a lot of books there and the typical dance troops.
Some viewers said that the novel was much better than the movie and some said that the movie adapted from the novel was executed fairly. For some the decent chemistry shared by Arjun and Aliya was awesome and for some the music track. As a whole the movie is a total enjoyment for the audience.
