The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) Chintan Shivir, which will be held in Bhopal at the end of this month, is likely to be attended by newly-appointed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah, apart from top RSS leadership, including organisation chief Mohan Bhagwat and Suresh Bhaiyaji Joshi. It is yet to be confirmed whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend it.

According to sources, since this will be the first such joint congregation of office bearers of the RSS and the BJP after the formation of the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre, many critical long term plans for the organisation are likely to be discussed in the three-day meet from July 28 to 30.

Important decisions such as filling vacant BJP State president posts, including that of MP and Chhattisgarh, transferring party organisational secretaries will be discussed in the meeting.

“Apart from Shah and Bhagwat, organisational secretaries from every State, pracharaks and other office bearers have also been invited. Around 500 people will be attending the meet. One of the focuses of the meet will be improving the coordination between the RSS and the Government,” a BJP leader said.

The fate of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who is facing heat over alleged irregularities in selections by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), is also likely to be discussed in the three-day meet. Though the supporters of Chouhan claim that the RSS has given him a clean chit in the scam and he will continue to function as the CM of the State.

Chouhan, during his visit to the national Capital on Wednesday, called on BJP president Amit Shah to congratulate him on his appointment. Chouhan invited the newly-appointed BJP president for State visit at that occasion.
