Senior Congress leader and MP Jyotiraditya Scindia has urged Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to allocate budget for compensation to the hailstorm affected farmers of his (Scindia’s) constituency.
Scindia in a letter to CM on Tuesday said, “I wish to draw your attention towards Shivpuri district where 2962 hectare crops were destroyed in October this year with hailstorm. The district administration after doing survey of the destroyed crop sent an estimated proposal of `5.32 crore to the revenue department in Bhopal for distribution of compensation, but till now no budget has been allocated.” Scindia further said that like other parts of the State my parliamentary constituency was already affected with the drought but the district administration while doing survey for crop loss did not included whole of the Shivpuri district.
Crops in Pichore, Khaniyadhana and Badrawas blocks also suffered heavy losses due to drought; compensation for crop loss should also be given to the farmers of these blocks but later hailstorm further the losses. Farmers of these areas are passing through most troubled times and worst financial crisis hence compensation should be provided to them without delay, he added.
He said that in these circumstances it is requested from you to immediately release budget on the basis of proposal sent by Shivpuri district administration for compensation of crops damaged due to hailstorm besides orders should be issued for the farmers of my constituency whose crops were lost due to drought so that the penurious farmers could get financial aid.
