The All Party meeting convened in the State Assembly on Monday concluded without any outcome.
It was claimed that the meeting was convened as a formality, so that the House could continue without any hurdle. However, factually, in the past All Party meetings have been convened to discuss the issues of utmost importance.
In the past, such meetings were convened only twice. First one was in 1984, after the gas tragedy that had claimed hundreds of lives, while the second one was in 1992, when communal riots took places in Bhopal.
However, this time, the meeting started at 4 pm in the State Assembly premises. The Independent legislators raised the issue that they did not get adequate time to raise the issues related to their constituencies. The Congress members also raised different issues in the meeting.
Factually, the members of different parties were clueless regarding the motive behind convening the meeting.
Surprisingly, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan remained absent from the meeting. He left the city for his constituency Budhni, where 11 people had swept away in flood. On return, Chouhan immediately reached the State Mantralaya, where a special meeting of his cabinet colleagues was scheduled.
Sources said that in the meeting, the Cabinet members were briefed about the ‘Facts’ of Vyapam scam. A presentation in this regard has been prepared by the State Government recently and it was shown t senior party leaders in New Delhi some time back.
later in the evening, a meeting of the BJP legislators was convened at the Chief Minister’s residence. State Organisational General Secretary Arvind Menon, State president of the party Nandkumar Singh Chouhan and the Chief Minister remained present on the occasion.
The legislators are learnt to have been asked for putting forth their point of view in the assembly in coming days. Since, Congress party is willing to raise the issue of Vyapam scam, the BJP and the State government is geared up to face the situation in the House.
