The BMC has already suffered losses to the tune of over Rs7 crore since April 2016 as the tenders for the hoardings in the State Capital could not be called for the year 2016-17 and in the current financial year also that is 2017-18 tenders have yet not been called and the BMC would further take about a couple of months in calling fresh tenders for hoardings.
BMC Hoardings and banners in-charge Rahul Singh Rajput while talking to The Pioneer said, “The tenders for the hoardings to be erected in different parts of the city could not be called last year and have also not been called till now for this year as the outdoor media rules were not finalized by the BMC.”
Rajput further said that there are 356 hoarding spots of the Corporation in the city that generates revenue of about Rs 6 to 7 crore per year. “The BMC has now formulated the rules of outdoor media and now the tenders for the hoarding would be called in next couple of months,” he added.
He said for now all the hoardings and banners in the city are illegal as the hoarders do not have any permission to fix them. We remove hoardings and banners on daily basis, he added.
However, the BJP state media in-charge lokendra Parashar said that the hoardings are never put up by the party, it is the individuals display hoardings and they take permission or not should be best known to them only.
