All gram panchayats of the State will have their own buildings in the coming one year. These buildings will be named ‘Bharat Nirman Kendra’.
Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Gopal Bhargav has approved Rs 1.51 crore for construction of remaining one thousand 46 gram panchayat buildings.
Bhargav said that the panchayat raj institutions should have their own buildings to empower them so that the panchayats can fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
Bhargav said that according to the survey conducted last year by the department there were total 5,166 gram panchayats without their own buildings. Out of these, 1189 panchayat buildings have been completed based on the approval sought earlier.
The remaining 2,931 buildings are under construction and for the remaining 1046 panchayat buildings, Rs 1.51 crore has been approved at the rate of Rs 14.48 lakh per building.
