A major accident was narrowly averted at Bhopal railway station on Thursday, thanks to the prompt action of Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and the train manager. A 35-year-old woman, attempting to board a moving train, lost her balance and was about to fall between the train and the platform when she was pulled to safety.

The incident occurred on Platform 1 as Train No. 20481 Jodhpur–Tiruchirappalli Humsafar Express was departing the station. The woman passenger, carrying a suitcase, attempted to board AC Coach B7 while the train was in motion. Due to the movement of the train, she lost her footing and began to fall toward the gap between the train and the platform.

RPF Sub-Inspector Ravindra Singh and Constable Anil Sharma, who were on duty at the platform, acted swiftly. Observing the critical situation, they immediately grabbed the woman’s hand and pulled her safely back onto the platform, preventing what could have been a serious accident.

At the same moment, Train Manager Romesh Chaubey, sensing the emergency, applied the emergency brake, bringing the train to a halt. The coordinated response ensured the woman’s life was saved. She was later safely assisted into her coach and continued her journey to Tiruchirappalli.

Speaking about the incident, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria stated that the Bhopal Division has been consistently working to strengthen safety measures across station premises and on moving trains. He praised the exemplary response of the RPF personnel and the train manager, calling their actions commendable and an inspiration for all railway staff.

The railway administration has once again appealed to passengers not to attempt boarding or alighting from moving trains, emphasizing that such actions are extremely dangerous and could lead to life-threatening situations.
