BharatiyaJanata Party Kisan Morcha StatePresident Bansilal Gurjar targeted the Congress on Sunday alleging that leader of Opposition in State Assembly Ajay Singh does not know anything about economics of agriculture.
Raising his allegation, Gurjar claimed that Madhya Pradesh is the only State where the minimum support price for wheat has been raised to Rs 1500 by giving the farmers a bonus of Rs 150. He said that due to this step of the State Government the farmers are getting good price for their wheat even in the open markets.
“The special bonus has proved to be a farmer friendly step. To say that this step is anti-farmer shows the politically biased approach of Congress party and its mental degeneration,” Gurjar said.
Defending the Government in face of repeated allegations by Congress about low procurement of wheat in this year, Gurjar said that low procurement was recorded this year because farmers sold most of their wheat in the market where prices were high due to the bonus extended by the State Government.
“When the market price was way ahead of Rs 1500, why should the farmer sell his wheat at the minimum support priceIJ The traders bought wheat from the farmers in large quantities offering high prices. This has brought double benefit to the farmers. Wheat of Madhya Pradesh has been recognised internationally. Farmers are getting good returns for their wheat from international market,” he claimed, adding that due to the pro-farmer steps of the State Government, the farmers are favourably disposed towards BJP.
