The Aishbagh police nabbed a notorious criminal engaged in selling of firearms illegally and recovered one country-made pistol and two cartridges, a scooter from his possession near Naveen Nagar on Thursday, accused was absconding in extortion case.
On Thursday Shoaib Khan lodged complaint with the police regarding extortion demand by Taufiq Hussain alias Taufiq Shooter.
Keeping in view the seriousness of the incident, during the investigation after the police received information that miscreant Taufiq shooter carrying firearms in Naveen Nagar police team rushed and arrested the accused.
The police on frisking Taufiq recovered country-made pistol was found from the miscreant, 2 live cartridges and was not able to provide any details of the firearms.
After the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section 25 and 27 of the Arms Act and was also booked for extortion.
In the investigation police have also recovered a scooter from the miscreant.
Victim who runs a Snooker Pool game in his complaint stated that when he was near Pul Patra he was stopped by accused and demanded money and when he refused accused thrashed him and later victim lodged complaint with Aishbagh police.
In the past, Taufiq has been booked for murder, attempt to murder, robbery, extortion and assault.
On the other hand Shoaib is also a notorious criminal and is on bail in Abid Mewati murder case.
