Airport Road from Asaram Square to Ayodhya Bypass will be expanded into a 10-lane corridor, confirmed MLA Rameshwar Sharma during an inspection of various project sites in the state capital on Thursday.
Originally planned as an 8-lane road, Sharma said he had urged Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to widen it further, citing its role as the main airport route. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has now approved the revised plan, and work will continue without delay.
At Lalghati, Sharma reviewed the stalled second phase of the grade separator, delayed during Kamal Nath’s tenure. He said the plan would be revived and discussed with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Nitin Gadkari for approval.
In Bairagarh, he inspected the 3.5-km elevated bridge being built at a cost of Rs 305 crore and instructed officials to finish the piers by August to avoid traffic issues during the monsoon and festive season.
Sharma also asked for immediate construction of the service road beneath the Singarcholi ROB using white-topping and the shifting of electricity poles. He directed officials to relocate the sewage line between Sant Nagar Bus Stand and the Civil Hospital, citing pipeline congestion.
There are also plans to extend the bridge to Halalpura Bus Stand to ease jams near wedding venues. At Fatak Road, Sharma criticised delays at the railway overbridge site, saying the PWD completed its part months ago. Railway officials now promise to finish by October, allowing a possible inauguration in November.
