The newly-elected office bearers of Association of Industries Madhya Pradesh (AIMP) have demanded separate department for taking care of resource scarce micro and small sector enterprises.

The 10 elected members of the executive body of association elected Hemant Mehtani as the new president and other office bearers.

"We are not against arrival of big corporations in MP but the State Government should also pay due attention to micro and small industries, which is only possible if there is a separate department," Mehtani said.

Among other demands, Mehtani said that 40% land in new industrial areas should be reserved for micro and small units. He added that goons and encroachers would be countered with the help of police and district administration in Sanwer Road and other industrial areas.

Newly elected vice-president Alok Dave claimed that the association would demand industrial townships prevalent in States like Odisha and Andhra Pradesh where the industrial area is governed by a committee including industry office bearers and industry representatives.

"Total 75% of revenue paid by industries in such areas is spent on development of industries and 25% is used by the State Government for other purposes," said Dave.

The elected office bearers maintained that all the infighting has been quelled and now the association would work as a cohesive unit. They claimed that the court has rejected the petition filed by former president and the secretary over their termination.

"The executive body would discuss the matter of ousted members and proper action would be taken as per the constitution," Mehtani claimed.
