AIIMS Bhopal warns about fake profiles

Published on:

In a recent case of cyber fraud, miscreants have created fake social media profiles of Professor (Dr.) Ajai Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, to extort money from unsuspecting individuals. AIIMS Bhopal has issued an official alert, urging the public to remain vigilant against such online scams.

According to the institute, three fake Facebook IDs have been created in the past 24 hours. The fraudsters send friend requests to people and then demand money under various false pretexts. This alarming development has raised concerns about the increasing threat of cybercrime, especially through social media platforms.

In its press release, AIIMS Bhopal emphasized that cybercrime is no longer just a technical issue but a matter of public awareness and responsibility. The fraudsters are misusing the names and images of reputed individuals to exploit people's trust and emotions.

The institute warned that these fake profiles are being used not only for financial fraud but also to manipulate social and emotional relationships.

AIIMS Bhopal has advised citizens to be cautious when receiving friend requests or messages asking for money, particularly from accounts claiming to represent public figures.

The administration has urged the public to report any suspicious accounts immediately and avoid engaging in any financial transactions without proper verification. AIIMS Bhopal has also called on social media platforms to take swift action against fraudulent accounts to prevent further harm.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the increasing risks in the digital space. The public is advised to stay alert and verify authenticity before responding to any online communications.
