AICTE acts on time, admissions to finish by July

This time, the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has issued affiliations to the engineering colleges on time. This would help the engineering colleges of the State to hold the counseling of students and this would result in admissions by July 30. For last three academic sessions the counseling for admission in engineering courses through the PEPT were organised late.

The counseling depends on work plan of AICTE as after AICTE declares the affiliation and seat position of colleges then only counseling is proceeded. This year AICTE has already started the affiliation work due to which it seems that counseling will be completed on time this year. AICTE in the notice has informed many engineering colleges that their affiliations can not be renewed and the seats can not be increased. Now engineering colleges will have to reply to the notice for affiliation. On the basis of the college’s reply final list of affiliations will be formed and will be sent to Department of Technical Education (DTE). On the basis of the final list of affiliation and seats allotment DTE conducts counseling for admission.

last year AICTE sent the list of affiliation to the DTE just before the counseling procedure was scheduled to start due to which counseling process was delayed.

DTE Joint Director laxmi Narayan Reddy informed that this year all the rounds of counseling will finish by July 30. DTE has already completed all the preparations for the counseling; the counseling is likely to start in the last week of May.

Notably, if the counseling for engineering colleges is conducted earlier then it will directly affect the admissions through JEE and in plain graduation courses.
