Agarbatti staged at Bharat Bhavan

A riveting tale of caste, gender, class and conflict and politics, Agarbatti is based on the Behmai massacre.

The play Agarbatti was staged at Bharat Bhavan here on Friday, marking the conclusion of Madhya Pradesh Rangotsav.

Directed by Swati Dubey, the play was wondorously performed by Samagam Rangmandal, Jabalpur.

The Behmai assasination was committed by Bandit Queen Phoolan Devi and her gang to avenge her gangrape by the upper-caste Thakur men of Behmai.

In order to rehabilitate the widows of the massacred Thakurs, the government opens an incense stick factory in the village.

One of the widows, Lala Ram Thakurain, reserves the last rites of her husband until Phoolan Devi has been executed.

The story begins after Phoolan’s death and explores its implications and consequences on a series and spectrum of events.

This incident was not a lesson for the world but was a big question, and this question has not been answered till today. Feudalism, patriarchy and racial bouts of racial abuse were split. With the sound of bullets, Phoolan surrendered and went to jail. There were serious differences about the widow's chariot journey and almost all were very selfish.

Politics started practicing this phenomenon and ethnic equation in its favor. Intense sentiment is the tool of Indian politics, which can reach the moment of power at the moment. There is nothing to do with its serious discussions.

Agarbatti Drama is an effort to rebuild this serious discussion, which is the theatrical representation created by the color of fictional characters and events on the real event and the grounds of the geography.

This question is unanswered because, as a Member of Parliament, Phoolan Devi was murdered in Delhi. The purpose of the drama Agarbattai is to discuss this

question again.

The play begins from the grave of Phoolan Devi and from here the nine characters of the drama come in front of the audience.
