After the Jabalpur hospital fire incident, Govt to come out with Fire Fighting Act soon

Published on:

The state government has taken serious note of the fire incident in Bhopal and Jabalpur hospitals. Soon the Fire Fighting Act will be implemented in the state. For this, the state government has decided that provisional fire NOC will not be issued. Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh has issued instructions in this regard.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh has said that it is in practice to give provisional fire NOC from the Fire Authority for one year. This is not right. Instead, after the completion of the building, the fire NOC should be issued after inspection of the building by the fire authority while giving the completion certificate.

The minister has given instructions to the Principal Secretary Urban Development and Housing to issue necessary orders in this regard. The Minister has directed that the Fire Fighting Act should be prepared in a month so that it can be passed in the next assembly session.

He said that at present the Fire Fighting Act is not applicable in the state. This has led to many discrepancies in the field of firefighting. Under the Land Development Rules, the Commissioner of Municipal Corporations and Divisional Joint Director Urban Administration has been declared as Fire Authority for urban areas, District Collectors for rural areas and Chief Executive Officer, Cantonment Board for the concerned area.
