The State Government has directed administrative officers to visit villages to deal with situation arising out of drought. General Administration Department has prescribed points on which discussions will be held with farmers during visits and reports thereof prepared.
Necessary directives have been given regarding tasks and responsibilities assigned to officers during 3-day visits from October 25.
Chief Secretary had directed officers to submit post-visit reports within time-limit. All officers will submit reports in prescribed form by October 30 to Principal Secretary GAD. Instead of mere inspection by officers, these visits will serve as significant measure to draw conclusions on the basis of discussions with farmers and field experiences regarding deficient rainfall, agriculture and positive mindset about it and present suggestions.
Along with IAS, officers of IPS and IFS will also hold discussions with farmers in villages from October 25 to 27 and submit reports in two forms. The first form pertains to discussions on estimates of Kharif crops, irrigation, seeds, fertilisers, power and loans for Rabi, drinking water sources, job demand and availability, situation of MNEGREA wages’ payment, facilities under public distribution system and beneficiary-oriented schemes like old age, disability and widow pensions. They will also seek information about education and health services. The second form is on making agriculture profitable, additional alternative income’s long-term arrangements and farmers’ feedback on this. Collector and SP of concerning districts will not accompany officers during visits. In case of need for cooperation, duty of local Block Development level officers can be fixed.
