Following the stay of the Madhya Pradesh High Court (Indore bench) on the proposed trial of i-buses on the BRTS for the next four weeks, the district administration here on Thursday decided to go for dry run of i-buses on the BRTS route from Friday.
However, the MP High Court Indore bench following a petition of the RTI activist Kishore Kodwani, on Thursday stayed trial run of i-buses on BRTS for the next four weeks. Kodwani in his petition had demanded stoppage of trial run on the BRTS because of incompleteness of BRTS road in the city.
The dry run of i-buses on the BRTS has been been aimed to identify difficulties and drawbacks, if any, and sort it out at the earliest before the actual run of the i-buses on the BRTS, said Indore divisional commissioner Sanjay Dube here on Thursday while addressing a review meeting on the trial of BRTS buses at the office of Indore city bus services limited.
Informing about the dry run of i-buses, commissioner said from April 19 onward, dry run of empty i-buses on the BRTS road will be carried out. During the course of dry run, there would be no passengers on the buses. He also announced the whole BRTS road as zero tolerance area and said any violation of traffic rules and encroachments of parking in the zero tolerance area of the BRTS would invite strict disciplinary action and accordingly chalans would be issued against the persons concerned.
While reviewing preparations for the proposed trial and dry-run of i-buses, commissioner categorically stated that there would be no leniency as far as security of common people and passengers is concerned and it would be only after getting thoroughly assured about the preparations and safety of passengers that trial run of i-buses on the BRTS would be started,
Dube said.
Directing officials to declare whole of the BRTS area as zero tolerance zone, commissioner said that people would be given time up to April 25 to get used to traffic rules on the BRTS and after that chalans would be issued against those who would be found violating traffic norms and encroaching upon the parking area.
