Right To Information (RTI) activist Ajay Dubey has questioned as why the Madhya Pradesh Government that is burdened with huge debt is distributing gifts worth several lakhs and does road shows in foreign countries whereas it has failed to attract even a single rupee investment.
Dubey in a statement on Sunday said, “Why the Madhya Pradesh Government that spends lakh of rupees on doing road shows and distributing gifts in foreign countries failed to attract single rupee investment till date. Everybody knows that every citizen of Madhya Pradesh is in debt of over Rs14,000 and the Shivraj Singh Chouhan Government is doing foreign tours by spending crore of rupees since last many years in the name of attracting investments. As per our information that its over six month since the Global Investors meet took place in that Rs24 crore were spent, but till not a single rupee investment has been done.”
Dubey further said that despite claims of simplicity and good governance lavish expenses of this sort are injustice to the State that’s economic health is very bad. On one hand, the hailstorm hit farmers of the State are not getting financial assistance due to bad economic condition of the State at the same time, the information obtained by us through RTI reveals that during every foreign tour gifts worth several lakh of rupees are distributed to the investors and road shows also costing several lakh are also done during these tours, he added.
He said that the documents obtained through RTI reveal that during Chief Minister Chouhan’s Africa tour in June 2014 gifts worth Rs6 lakh were distributed while Rs17 lakh were spent on road shows. Chouhan Government that is combating with the financial crisis in the State by taking debt has failed to bring in investors in the State while is also unknown with Modi Government’s tradition of giving simple gifts like compact discs of Geeta to the visiting premiers of foreign countries, he added.
