Wildlife activist from the city Ajay Dubey has opposed the shifting of the tiger and has sought the intervention of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) on the issue. Dubey in a letter to NTCA Member Secretary (IFS)- Bishan Singh Bonal urged to intervene and ensure safety and security of the endangered species.
Dubey in his letter to Bonal, said, “With regard to the issue of shifting of tigers from Kerwa- Kaliyasot Bhopal to Satpura or Panna Tiger Reserve, I would like to apprise you that the MP forest department is planning to shift tigers without seeking permission from the NTCA, which is a mandatory requirement for such kind of action for the reason that the tiger is an endangered species under schedule I of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. I request you to please intervene in the matter at the earliest and ensure the safety and security of the tigers.”
Dubey further said, “I request you to also please seek an explanation from the Government of MP that why is it in such a hurry to shift the tigers.”
