Action has been taken on 707 complaints of violation of model code of conduct since its enforcement in Madhya Pradesh from October 4. Action has been taken on the basis of complaints received against political parties and their workers.
Some of these complaints have been forwarded to Election Commission of India for guidance and redressal. Maximum complaints have been redressed by seeking reports from concerning district collectors. Action has also been taken by forwarding complaints to concerning departments.
Of the complaints regarding violation of model code of conduct received by office of the Chief Electoral Officer, maximum 110 complaints have been received from Bhopal, Rewa 62, Indore 40, Ujjain 36, Gwalior 28, Sagar and Jabalpur 24 each, Morena and Bhind 18 each, Satna and Vidisha 15 each, Datia and Betul 14 each, Raisen and Khargone 13 each, Katni and Ratlam 12 each, Hoshangabad and Sehore 11, Shahdol and Chhindwara 10 each, Shivpuri, Chhatarpur, Ashok Nagar, Dhar and Mandsaur 9 each, Damoh, Balaghat and Dewas 8 each, Guna, Rajgarh and Shajapur 7 each, Seoni 6, Tikamgarh, Panna, Singrauli, Mandla and Umaria 5 each, Harda 4, Anuppur, Narsinghpur and Khandwa 3 each, Sidhi, Dindori, Burhanpur, Neemuch and Jhabua 2 each and one complaint each has been received from Alirajpur, Barwani and Sheopur districts. As many as 50 complaints have also been received from other places and persons.
Meanwhile, ECI has directed for webcasting of highly critical polling booths in view of law, order and security during Vidhan Sabha Elections in Madhya Pradesh on November 25.
Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has directed District Election Officers to again review as to which polling booths are highly critical in their districts. The DEOs have been asked to keep in view that number highly critical booths in a district should not be over 5 percent. The districts have also been directed to inform about this at the earliest.
