The police officials of the Special Task Force (STF) suspected to have leaked confidential documents relating to the MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam to Congress leaders might face action. The State government has taken the matter seriously and senior officials have been taken to task on the issue, it is learnt.
Notably, the way the MPPEB scam was flared up by the Congress afresh recently with the help of confidential documents, the State government is suspecting the police officials who are in the good books of the Opposition party leaders for long. The service record of the police officials are being looked into to find out which officers had favoured postings during the Congress regime in the State.
While talking to the media here on Monday, Urban Administration and Development (UAD) Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said that leakage of confidential documents to such a large scale is not possible without the help of Congress loyalist officers. "We are maintaining strict vigil on such officers," he added.
Reacting to the statement of Vijayvargiya, the leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly, Satyadev Katare, said that it is a threat to the officials. "If Congress loyalist officers are posted in the field during BJP government, it is a pity on the BJP leaders," he added. He claimed that the officers are committed to the Constitution and the law, and not towards any political party or individual.
Vijayvargiya said if the Congress comes out with documents to prove involvement of RSS leaders in the MPPEB scam, he would not only quit politics, but also end his life.
He said that the investigation in the case is in process and at this time seeking the Chief Minister's resignation is not justified. On the contrary, the Congress should express gratitude towards the Chief Minister for conducting an impartial probe in the matter.
