Strict action would be taken against people extorting money during Holi festival, said Bhopal DIG Raman Singh Sikarwar during a meeting of SHOs of police stations of the city, convened here on Friday.
Taking precautionary measures for the Holi festival, a meeting of the SHOs was held and it was instructed to take necessary action against the miscreants.
During the meeting issue of extortion during the festival surfaced and it was discussed that anti- social elements extort money from the citizens and it was instructed by the senior officials that action under section 384 of the IPC should be taken against such miscreants.
The meeting was held with the aim to review the security arrangements of the city and to ensure measures for maintaining law and order situation during the festival of Holi.
The Holi would be burnt on March 22 and the next day the festival of colours would be celebrated. Meanwhile, in the precautionary measures to maintain law and order situation during the festival of Holi, crime branch Bhopal nabbed two pick pockets from Bhopal talkies square on Thursday.
The two nabbed accused were identified as Mohammad Sameer alias Hameed (25) and Saud Khan (18).
