Kin of an accident victim created ruckus at a toll booth on Indore-Ujjain State highway last night. It was only after intervention of the city police and an assurance given to them by the police to take action against the guilty that the agitated people withdrew themselves.
According to report, a man identified as Gani, a resident of Heena Palace Colony (Khajrana) was killed in a road mishap last night near Indore-Ujjain road toll booth. The incident according to police occurred when the deceased along with other person Shahzad was returning home on their motorcycle from Bhorshala last night, when their motorcycle was hit by an unidentified car near the toll booth.
In the incident, while Gani succumbed to his injuries on the spot, Shahzad was injured critically. When kin and supporters of the deceased Gani came to know about the incident, they rushed to the incident site in large number and created road blockade on Indore-Ujjain road for sometime. After staging road blockade, they went to the toll booth and asked the toll booth employees to show them footage of CCTV camera as they were of the view that by going through CCTV footage, they can reach up to car driver who had hit the motorcycle.
Following refusal of the toll booth employees to show them CCTV footage, the agitated people also had a tiff with the toll booth employees and pelted stones on the toll booth. After being informed about the matter, CSP KK Sharma and Banganga TI YS Tomar accompanied by police jawans rushed to the incident site and assured the agitated people that action would be taken against the guilty car driver.
It was only after assurance from the police that the agitated people withdrew themselves from the incident site. later, police sent body of the deceased to Arubindo Hospital for postmortem, while Shahzad who had sustained critical injuries, was also admitted to hospital, whose condition was stated to be stable till filing this report.
