BJP Madhya Pradesh President Vishnudutt Sharma, along with State Organizational General Secretary Hitanand, attended the inauguration ceremony of the new building of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Mahakoshal province in Jabalpur on Wednesday.

Following the event, Sharma visited the residence of former minister Anchal Sonkar to offer condolences on the passing of his elder brother, the late Chandrika Prakash Sonkar. He also met Mandal President Yogesh Lokhande’s mother at their residence to inquire about her well-being.

Speaking to the media, Sharma expressed sorrow over the tragic incident at the Maha Kumbh, stating that the accident was unfortunate. However, he strongly criticized the Congress party for politicizing the tragedy, calling it regrettable. He conveyed deep condolences for those affected and assured that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were closely monitoring the situation. Sharma emphasized that under Modi’s leadership, the BJP governments at both the central and state levels were strengthening the principles of Sanatan Dharma and social harmony.

Addressing concerns over the Maha Kumbh arrangements, Sharma asserted that extensive and adequate preparations had been made for the grand event. He pointed out that the Maha Kumbh is the world's largest religious gathering, drawing millions of devotees, and that the accident occurred due to an overwhelming crowd on the sacred occasion of Mauni Amavasya.

He praised the Uttar Pradesh government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for ensuring well-organized arrangements, stating that unfortunate incidents should be viewed in the right context. Sharma highlighted that millions of devotees were taking holy dips in Prayagraj every day during the Maha Kumbh.
