State Government has allotted old Vidhan Sabha building (Minto Hall) to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University (ABVHU) for carrying out lectures on temporary basis, ABVHU got possession of the Minto hall on Wednesday.

ABVHU Registrar UC Shukla told The Pioneer that the university is going to start 16 post-graduate courses, 15 under-graduate courses and around 20 diploma and certificate courses for the students from the State. Presently, online registrations for admissions are being carried out and by July 10 admissions will be complete. The classes are scheduled to start from July 11 for which university requires classroom.

It is worth mentioning, ABVHU had started diploma and certificate courses last year only but due to lack of classrooms and faculty members, degree courses could not be started. Now, university has started admissions in mainstream courses.

Shukla further said that university had requeste secretariat to provide building and classrooms to start regular classes. At present, the university is functioning in two staff quarter buildings in Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University (MPBOU) campus.

Shukla informed that since MPBOU is already accommodating administrative wing of ABVHU, Madhya Pradesh Private Universities Regulatory Commission’s office and National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in its campus so MPBOU is reluctant in providing more buildings to ABVHU.

Also the university has started recruitment of faculty members on contractual basis. University has already hired three scientists for deciding the curriculum of the chemistry and mathematics courses, added Shukla. “The university will soon invite application for faculty members on contractual basis to join the university,” added Shukla.
