Absconding Sub Inspector of CID who was accused of an alleged sexual assault was arrested by Crime Branch Bhopal on Sunday. The accused was sent under judicial custody after being produced in a local court. Crime branch, acting on a tip-off, nabbed AP Singh from Fanda, while he was on his way to Bhopal in a private taxi. From Bhopal, Singh tried to escape the State.
After he was arrested Singh was produced in the local court and was sent for judicial custody of seven days.
Before he was produced in the court Singh created chaotic scenes and claimed that he was innocent and had been fabricated. He alleged that all the charged raised against him were false. He was shouting loudly and behaving in an errant manner to attract attention. Earlier CID constable Ashish Bhargava's wife lodged a complaint with crime branch Bhopal and alleged that her husband along with his friend AP Singh has sexually assaulted her.
In the investigation Ashish was arrested and was sent to jail after being produced in court. The arrest was done after the allegations were found correct by the police. Notably, during the investigation Singh was detained by crime branch around 10 days for questioning but he managed to escape with the help of crime branch police personnel and other police personnel. Singh held past crime record and was involved in attempt to murder cases, bullying and assault.
In the year 2005 after he was caught accepting and demanding bribe he was removed from his services with immediate effect.
