The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has knocked at the door of the Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) seeking action against the police officers involved in the cane-charge on its workers during a protest in the State Capital on Monday.

A delegation of AAP led by state organisational secretary Amit Bhatnagar reached the MPHRC on Tuesday and lodged complaint against the police officers involved in cane charge on party workers during a protest in Bhopal on Monday. The AAP in its complaint demanded action against the police officials involved in cane charge on its workers who were peacefully demonstrating in support of their demands.

Bhatnagar, later talking to the media persons said, “The incident of cane charge on peaceful protestors is open violation of the human rights. Male police personals not only roughed up female protestors but also cane charged them that is legally improper.”

Bhatnagar further said that any of our party workers were also beaten up by the cops and many of them including our state convener Alok Agarwal were severely injured. We demand action against all the police officials involved in the cane charge on our party workers, he added.

He alleged that the inhuman action was taken to cover up the `50, 000 crore scam, but we would not succumb to the repression politics of Shivraj Singh Chouhan led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of the state. AAP would continue raising the electricity issue and the scam done by the State Government over purchasing of electricity in the state, he added.

Notably, AAP MP convener Alok Agarwal and about a dozen party workers were injured in cane charge by the police on Monday.
