The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would launch a three-phase save farmers agitation in the State demanding to waive off farmers’ loans and adequate price for their crops.

Addressing media persons here on Thursday AAP State convener Alok Agarwal said, “looking at the plight of the farmers in Madhya Pradesh the AAP has decided to launch an agitation- ‘Save Farmers’. The agitation would be in three phases, in the first phase, statewide warning agitation would be organized on April 11 while in the second phase farmers’ saving Yatras would be organized from April 14 to 20 and in the third and final phase save farmers rallies would be organized at all the ten divisional headquarters of the state from May 21 to 31.”

Agarwal further said that AAP demands that the loans of all farmers should be waive off and fair price for crops should be ensured besides they should get all the rights. “The condition of farmers in the state has reached to worst in the state. According to the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) 1290 farmers committed suicide in the state in the year 2015, in a reply submitted in the state assembly it was informed that 818 farmers committed suicide in the state from July 1, 2016 to February 28, 2017. This makes it clear that daily four farmers are committing suicide in the state and the main reason for that is that farmers are burdened under debt,” he added.

He said that due to the anti farmer policies of the BJP government of the state the farmers are pressed under debt. Over 27 lakh farmer families in the state owe loans of about Rs 20,000 and the AAP demands that this loan should be scrapped immediately, he added.

The AAP state convener said that if the government did not scarped the loans of the farmers than the party would launch statewide agitation.
