AAP asks Govt to scrap lanco power deal

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) demanded on Friday that the State government’s agreement with the lanco Power Company should be cancelled and investigation should be ordered in this regard as lanco Power Company is a black listed company.

While talking to media persons here on Friday, AAP’s State Convener Alok Agrawal said that the State government had blacklisted lanco and all its group companies from doing business in the State for five years in February 2012 for not supplying power to the state under the contract. The state government had simultaneously taken the company to the court. The Supreme Court had directed the two sides to reach a settlement.

He alleged that more than Rs 10,000 crore of the people of the state would be looted due to this agreement. Government had blacklisted the lanco Power Company on February 14, 2012. The government had made the agreement with lanco Power Company on November 26, 2012 while government had excluded its name from the blacklist on November 30, 2012.

Agrawal stated that Shivraj Singh Chouhan should answer that why the government is purchasing costly electricity from the company while the AAP-led Delhi government is providing electricity on the half rates as compared to the rates of electricity in MP. Why the government needs this kind of anti-public agreement as MP is already a surplus state in electricity.

Agrawal demanded that the agreement with the lanco power company should be cancelled immediately and the additional amount of Rs 600 crore should be taken back. Independent probe should be ordered as well as strict action should be taken on the responsible people. The state government should provide the electricity on cheap rates alike the Delhi Government in order to benefit the people.
