A Hindi play portraying the struggles and hardships of policemen was staged at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium on Tuesday.

The play, ‘Siren,’ was beautifully performed by the artists of Reflection Society for Performing Arts. It is the new production of the troupe, script written by Abdul Haq and directed by Parvez Khan.

Showcasing the lifespan of policemen and their families the play highlighted a sensitive issue which is usually left unseen by the society. The play was all about cops who are always available for public service despite many difficulties.

The play is seen through the eyes of two characters Trishna a student researching on cop’s life and Arvind, a young cop.

Arvind symbolizes the ‘good’ part of the police department. He is used in the play as a metaphor of honesty and loyalty. On one side where he tries to remain loyal towards his duty, on the other hand he tries to bring a balance between his personal and professional life.

The play begins with introducing characters Trishna and Gunjan. Both the girls are researching on the life of a cop. Trishna is the daughter of Inspector Ravi. She also believes that only corrupt cops survive in the system.

As the play takes a leap to another scene, Arvind is introduced to the audience. He tries to balance his two lives and narrates about the sincerity towards his duties.

The play takes a serious turn when, a havaldar commits suicide in police station.

With impactful dialogues and skillful acting the troupe artists were able to impress the audience.
