Similarly, in the Industrial category, the hike is 5.02 per cent and in the agriculture category, the hike is 13.18 per cent.
The ERC in a statement said this tariff order is applicable from 10 April, 2017. The Commission has determined the Aggregate Revenue Requirement (ARR) for FY 2017-18 for the three distribution licensees based on the regulations notified on 17th December 2015, under Section 181(2) (zd) read with Section 45 and 61 of the Electricity Act, 2003. The Aggregate Revenue Requirement (ARR) approved by the Commission for the generating companies, transmission licensees and the distribution licensees forms the primary basis for recovery of charges from consumers through retail supply tariffs.
The commission determines tariff as per functions assigned to it vide Section 86 of the Electricity Act 2003 (Act). As per Section 61 of the Act while determining the tariff, the Commission is guided by the principle that the tariff progressively reflects the cost of supply of electricity and also reduces cross-subsidies.
