At least eight migrant labourers died while 54 others were injured after a truck they were travelling in collided with a passenger bus in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh in wee hours on Thursday.
The incident took place under the limits of Cantt police station area in Guna.
The migrant labourers aboard the truck were heading to their native place in UP from Maharashtra. Wesley driven truck against a bus was heading towards Ahmedabad for bringing back migrant labourers late at night, the police said.
After the accident the driver of the truck fled the spot.
Sources claimed that the truck was jam packed with migrant labourers including women and some of them choked to death after the accident as they fell on each other.
As many as 54 labourers were injured in the incident and were rushed to Guna hospital for treatment. Police registered a case and started investigation into the matter.
