A 71-year-old man was robbed of his mobile phone during his routine evening walk in Chhatrasal Nagar, Piplani area of Bhopal, after being targeted by bike-borne miscreants. The incident has once again raised concerns over public safety in residential localities of the city.
The victim, Sudarshan Sharma, a resident of Bhavani Dham Colony, was on his daily walk when three unidentified men on a motorcycle approached him and swiftly snatched his phone before fleeing the scene. The robbery took place on Tuesday evening and was executed within seconds. Fortunately, Sharma was unharmed.
Mustering courage, Sharma immediately alerted the Piplani police, who registered an FIR late Tuesday night after conducting a preliminary investigation. Police teams are now analyzing CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the suspects.
As part of the ongoing probe, officers are also expected to interrogate local criminals and known repeat offenders in the vicinity in an effort to track down the culprits. So far, no arrests have been made.
The incident has sparked concern among residents, highlighting the growing trend of street crimes targeting elderly citizens.
